Priceline Hotel: 4* Ft. Lauderdale (Beach) Hyatt Regency Pier 66

First bid of $90 for 3* or better in Downtown area was rejected. Re-bid of $100, including Beach area. Accepted, upgraded to 4* Hyatt. Lowest price on Hyatt site was $194. In early Dec. I had tried up to $90, with no luck, even after including airport. I then read that workers doing clean/fix-up after H. Wilma were using a lot of rooms and space was scarce. Made a reserv. at BW Marina (across from Hyatt) for about $150, incl. tax. Decided to try Priceline again today and voila! This is a pre-cruise stay and we always love to watch the ships sail the night before our own.

I think you were fortunate to get this upgrade, as bidding as you did for a 3* was a bit risky. Feel free to ask for a strategy before bidding for your next stay.

When I first tried in Nov. or early Dec., I started with $60 for a 3* or better, starting with beach, then added downtown, then airport. I went as high as $90 over time and never got a thing. That's why I started with $90 this time, plus I didn't have much time to wait for 72 hrs.

When there is little or no time left to wait 72 hours is when bidding systematically becomes most important.
