rafael.cdm Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 I will be visiting NY for 5 days (05/01 until 05/06) and I'd like a minimum of a 3.5* (but 4* would be better) hotel located at TS, MTW, MSG or ESB (as central as possible). I'm willing to spend something between $150 and $200. Is it possible? Can someone help me with my bidding strategy? Thank you.
thereuare Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? You might be able to get a 4* hotel near the upper end of your budget (although another $10-$20/nite would increase your chances) and/or you'd increase your chances of a 4* hotel if you include the MTE zone (where what i think is the W New York is available for $211 on PRICELINE EXPRESS, should this be of any interest) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. rafael.cdm Posted March 5, 2015 Author Report Posted March 5, 2015 My goal is the least expensive 3.5* IF I can get a well located hotel (very close to the subway). I don't know any area in NYC, so I would like some suggestions on where to stay. Any 3.5* at MTE will be fairly close to the subway or I have to get a 4* to be sure? Goals: Least expensive 3.5* , well located, comfortable and, most important, fairly close to the subway. But, if I have to take a 4* to be certain about the location, I will.
thereuare Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 I wouldn't necessarily equate location/subway access with the star rating, as the two are generally unrelated. Zones which are geographically small and/or everything should be close to a subway: TS MTW CPS --> however, CPS has the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms Locations generally convenient and accessible to the subway: MTE --> most are well located, but some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway MSG --> most well located, but can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway Chelsea --> can be up to 10 minute walk to the subway, but this area currently has a lot going on (boutiques, clubs, cafes, restaurants, etc) so it is often still a very desirable zone So you can try bidding on the zones above (based upon your preferences/tolerances) OR you can try to choose a PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE offer where you have a reasonable guess as to which hotel it may be and therefore 'know'/guess the location and proximity to the subway. (and this also opens up MTE and other zones if you have a reasonable guess as to the property being offered) Lastly i will add what looks to be the 3* NH Jolly Madison is on HOTWIRE for $113/nite... it's lower than the minimum star rating you listed above, and it's far from the nicest hotel in NYC (it's basic but clean), but it is a very low price for NYC this time of year, if you're willing to overlook any imperfections in exchange for the low price.
