Janet Diber Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Hi I am looking around that area for august this year. Can you please give me some insight on what to look for to get this hotel? thanks
thereuare Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, typically only one hotel is offered at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. You can see the amenity set that the Citadines has previously been reported to the board with in the Priceline Hotel List. What are your dates of travel? Are your plans firm? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Janet Diber Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 Sorry i meant to add this question to another post. Thought i had deleted it. I am looking for 4 nights from 28th August in either the Mayfair Soho area(as long as its near a station) or near Victoria station. I am happy to spend up to $200AUS per night total.
thereuare Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 ... in either the Mayfair Soho area(as long as its near a station) or near Victoria station. You have to work within the zones and boundaries as defined by PRICELINE, you can't bid on a hotel 'near a station' within a zone... nor on Victoria Station specifically (at this is not the name of a PRICELINE zone). However, if you look at the Mayfair/Soho zone it looks like there are many underground stations throughout the zone and most of the zone would be convenient to a station, but you'll need to have a closer look to determine if it will work for your own needs. Victoria station is within the Westminster - Houses of Parliament - Victoria zone, so you will need to look closer at this zone as well to determine if you are able to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone. Your other option is to look at PRICELINE EXPRESS and/or HOTWIRE where you may be able to take a guess as to the hotel being offered, and assuming you guess correctly, determine if it will be close enough to an underground station. I am happy to spend up to $200AUS per night total. How much is this in terms of US Dollars and before taxes/fees? If the zones are too large for your needs, and you're not comfortable with the HOTWIRE / PRICELINE EXPRESS option, you can try searching our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com which will show you hotels near almost any location in the world and easily see what hotel options, and prices, are near the train stations you are most interested in. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know the information above and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Janet Diber Posted March 2, 2015 Author Report Posted March 2, 2015 That would be $200us in total per night as the aus dollar is a lot less so will cost me more. thanks
thereuare Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 What about the zone comments above? Are there any areas where you're willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Janet Diber Posted March 31, 2015 Author Report Posted March 31, 2015 Anywhere in Mayfair/soho area is fine but for Westminster/Victoria section I would prefer to be on the Victoria station side of the river. THanks
thereuare Posted March 31, 2015 Report Posted March 31, 2015 Anywhere in Mayfair/soho area is fine but for Westminster/Victoria section I would prefer to be on the Victoria station side of the river. Since you can't choose which side of the river you end up with when bidding on PRICELINE, should we exclude Westminster/Victoria from your bidding and only bid on the Mayfair/Soho zone? What star rating it is that you want to try for up to $200US?
