foCoJax Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 I'm completely new to Hotwire Secret Hot Rates. I'm looking for a hotel room in Chicago with 2 beds from 5/23-5/25. I see there is a deal for a 2* hotel in the Millennium Park - Grand Park area for $90 in the Secret Hot Rates -- I looked for what this hotel may potential be, but I see Hotwire doesn't offer any 2* hotels under their "Standard Rates" in this region. Does this mean an automatic upgrade to a 3* hotel? Thanks for the help.

To get started, please read your messages (which will also remove the red box at the top of the page asking you to do the same). ... with 2 beds from 5/23-5/25.With PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose the room configuration or how many beds will be in the room. Price.line only guarantees double occupancy, whereas HOTWIRE guarantees accommodations for everyone that you include in your search (up to quad occupancy)... so you can 'force' the issue by searching for 2adults/2children which will ensure sleeping accommodations for four people, and while this usually means two beds in the room, the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, a rollaway brought into the room, etc. (and this latter situation is more common in large cities, such as Chicago, where space is expensive and at a premium). Would the possibility of the 2nd bed being a pullout or rollaway be an acceptable option? Alternately you could search PRICELINE EXPRESS where some properties show a 'Bed Choice' listed, where you could then click the offer and see if any of the Bed Choice options listed will suit your needs. Does this mean an automatic upgrade to a 3* hotel? With HOTWIRE the star rating you see is the star rating you will get (based upon their own star rating criteria)... there are no upgrades to a different star level than the one you have purchased, and HOTWIRE does indeed offer 2 star hotels in this area, but keep in mind that not all hotels on the 'opaque' side of their service also participate in the retail side of their service, and vice-versa, so you can't use one side of their service to determine what you will get when using the other side of their service. Even our Hotwire Hotel List shows a 2* hotel reported to the board in this area (but this too has it's limitations, see the comments at the top of the hotel list) Let us know if the bedding situation outlined above is acceptable, as well as your maximum budget per nite (before fees/taxes), and we will take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess something like the Travelodge or Congress would be possibilities. When searching for 2 adults, I'm seeing a 4* in this zone w/Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower for $123. I'm seeing the 2* for $102. For $21 more, the potential Hyatt would be an enormous upgrade, as if the 2* is either of those possibilities, neither is very appealing - plus the Hyatt would be a better location. If you are two adults and want more than one bed (may be 2 beds, may be 1 + rollaway or sofa), when I search for 2 adults and 2 children (to indicate four people and get bedding for the whole party, even if there isn't four people), the potential Hyatt comes up again for the same price. While unfortunately more expensive, for around $20 more, the potential Hyatt would be a much nicer experience.
