cct Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 I want to book a ESB area hotel for 2 adults and 2 children. Hotwire has the following offers: 1. 4* $160 Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Business center Self-service laundry Internet access FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access 2, 4* $178 Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access The 2nd property is not showing up on the Bidding.Helper Full View. Any ideas which I should pick? My kids are 12 ans 16. From my research, I think the Empire State Building area would be a great location. I would like to stay under $200 per night. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 For the first property, my guess would be a new amenity set for the Affinia Dumont or the Affinia Shelburne. Should it prove to be some other property, you do have a 'safety net' of the 4.5/5.0 TA rating which should ensure that it's a pleasant stay. I'm not seeing the other 4* hotel offered (i do see a 2nd 4* hotel offered in the ESB zone but it's priced at over $400/nite) I also don't see any other 4* hotels offered within your $200 budget (there are a two others but each of these have resort fees, which unfortunately are started to be prevalent in NYC, it puts them over your budget) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. cct Posted February 12, 2015 Author Report Posted February 12, 2015 I may not be doing this right by switching areas in this thread. Cold this be the Hilton Times Square? The free internet is appealing. I need room for 2 adults/2 kids. Times Square/Theater District4* $170 4/5 Trip Advisor (Hilton has 4.5/5 Trip Advisor) FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet,Pet friendly,Fitness center,Restaurant(s),Business center,Self-service laundry,Internet access,Accessible for visually impaired,Accessible for hearing impaired,Accessible path of travel,In-room accessibility,Accessible bathroom,Accessible parking,Roll-in shower
AaronJB Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. A guess would be the Millennium Broadway or Crowne Plaza TS with a very slightly different amenity set than they've been previously seen with. That said, this is one of the very few times I've ever seen a less expensive listing appear when searching for 2a/2c in NYC, a city where more than double occupancy often goes for a definite premium. When I search for 2 adults in TS the cheapest 4* is $231. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. thereuare Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 For the 4* TS property i'll cast my guess for the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan. cct Posted February 13, 2015 Author Report Posted February 13, 2015 Any thoughts on the identity of this hotel? Is it possibly the Staybridge Suites? The total for the 3 nights is $743 or $192 per night. The hotel I asked about above (4* in Times Square has a resort fee so the 3 nights cost $855). thereuare Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 I'm not currently seeing the 3.5* hotel you reference when searching for your dates (and including 2adults/2children), but if you're still seeing this one, i'd agree with your guess of the Staybridge Suites being a good possibility. For the 3* my guess would be the Holiday Inn Express New York - Manhattan West Side... but this property is a bit too far west in the zone and not the most convenient choice, imo. If i were traveling by myself i would likely take the ESB property that i guessed was one of the Affnia property as chain-wide they 'do it right' and have a great reputation... for a family trip i would likely take the 3.5* MSG property as it offers free breakfast (not that big of a deal in NYC, imo, as a cheap breakfast can be had throughout the city) and if our guess is correct the added room of the suite would be welcomed for a family of 4, as well as the central location; and should this prove to be some other property, you have the 'safety net' of the 4.5/5.0 TA rating which should ensure a good stay and a positive experience. cct Posted February 13, 2015 Author Report Posted February 13, 2015 The 3.5* was indeed the Staybridge Suites - Times Square Manhattan. Thanks for your help.
