sunny_sc Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 There's a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $207 for a 3* Kahului Area Hotel on March 25-26. No amenities listed. It just says "Save 22% or more" What hotel might this be? The Priceline list does not have any 3* hotels. There is also a name your price option for the Kahului area for 3*. Would these likely be the same hotel?
thereuare Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 The 'Name Your Own Price' side of PRICELINE and the PRICELINE EXPRESS side each use a different universe of hotels, there is obviously a LOT of overlap between them, but you won't necessarily get the same hotel when bidding as the one that is currently offered on the PRICELINE EXPRESS side of their service. The Courtyard Kahului Airport would be one possibility at the three star level both thru the bidding side or the express side, but it has not yet been reported to the board so could just as easily be some other 3* hotel in the area that i'm not familiar with or aware of (and with no amenities showing for the express deal there are also no amenities to use to increase the confidence in any guess). sunny_sc Posted February 19, 2015 Author Report Posted February 19, 2015 I've bid up to $195/night with no success. The Express deal for $208/night is still there. Are hotels more likely to accept closer to the date? I still have a month before the checkin date.
AaronJB Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 You're possibly running into some Spring Break issues here and if cold weather continues (it's currently below zero outside, so I'll say Hawaii sounds quite nice) you'll likely continue to see demand from people wanting to treat themselves to some warmer weather, even if briefly. Overall, there's also been higher demand in general since 2008/2009 and less in the way of "last minute" deals. Might there be something "last minute"? Possibly, but no guarantee and prices can absolutely go higher if demand comes in above expectations.
