Priceline Hotel: Express deals in London - value for money?

Hi, I've used Priceline in the past and recall getting some serious bargains but I'm looking for a hotel for London for 8-10 April and I'm not very impressed with the discounts that I'm finding reported on the board and that seem to be on offer for the Express deals - I'm UK based, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with the exchange rate?

 

I'm bringing a child for her first ever visit so I want to stay in the thick of things and am thinking 4* Westminster. I'm seeing a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for £80 a night which is good, but then there are fees which bring it to just over £101 a night.

 

I like the look of Park Plaza Westminster which is £151 a night for me to book directly, so if I got that, yes, that would be a great deal and I'd be delighted (but the particular deal doesn't mention a pool so possibly not?).

But the Park Plaza Riverbank, for example, is £120 for me to book directly so the express deal isn't such a bargain and of course I'm not even guaranteed there.

 

Hotwire seems roughly the same for me. Do you think I could find a better deal with NYOP? Or are my expectations unrealistic?

Please list your prices in US Dollars so that rates on the board are consistent and not subject to interpretation based upon future currency fluctuations (and it also makes it easier for us to research your trip and find alternative options since we our searches are US Dollar based)

Currency may have a little to do with the rates you're seeing above (the dollar has been quite strong lately vs. other world currencies), but rates are date specific, and there are likely other factors effecting your stay (not sure when you last use PRICELINE but it could have been low season, slow economy, less demand which means more vacancy and hotels more willing to offer deep discounts, etc)
