Brock Rambone Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 First trip to Philadelphia ... Saved a few bucks by working through the Price.line bidding (and re-bidding) process. My bidding process: - $100 with 5* - Historic District. - $100 with 5* - Rittenhouse Square - $105 with 5* - University Area - $100 - Added 4½* - $100 - Added Gloucester - $75 - Added 4* - $80 - Added City Line - Bid Accepted Not a conventional bidding process but a deal is a deal. The hotel has decent reviews and seems to be in a good location. Has anyone stayed here before? Any particular points of interest that are a must see / do? Thanks BB!
thereuare Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding and Congratulations on your success! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. I have never stayed at this property but have been to Philadelphia a few times (as recently as last month). Here are a few places of interest: 1) Reading Terminal Market Center City Prezel (very odd hours since they are mostly a wholesale operation and supply many of the carts/stores around the city, but they have a retail counter as well (3 pretzels for $1 :) ) and you can often get them right piping hot right out of the oven (and it's cool to watch the pretzels come off the line, imo) 2) Italian Market (this is not too far from the pretzel place above) 3) If you have a car the cheesesteak here may be one of my top 5 sandwiches of all time: Dalessandro's Steaks & Hoagies 600 Wendover Street, Philadelphia 4) South Street is what i consider to be 'the Greenwich Village of Philadelphia' with lots of shops, boutiques, restaurants, etc. (here Jim's Steaks is a popular choice) ... of course Philadelphia has lots of museums too :) Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
