I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?

If you see:

For the 4.5* I'm seeing:

Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Pet Friendly

-- This would likely be the Thompson.

For the 4* I'm seeing:

Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly

-- This amenity set has been seen previously with the MileNorth, although I didn't know this property started charging a "resort"-type fee (It's actually $6.95, according to Expedia, the HOTWIRE listing is an 'approximate' amount.)

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong either way. The MileNorth has a slightly more convenient location right off Michigan Ave, while the Thompson is in the very nice Gold Coast area (a very upscale area just a couple minutes walk North of the North end of the Michigan Ave area - a lot of restaurants and nightlife, as well as boutique stores on Oak St.) The two hotels are not terribly far from one another. If the weather is halfway decent, it's a very pretty walk up North from the Thompson to Lincoln Park Zoo and the Old Town area.

The Thompson is more of a sleek/modern boutique, so if that appeals, that may be a deciding factor. If you are looking for nightlife, there's definitely a lot going on in the Gold Coast around the Thompson. Again though, this is an instance where both potential hotels would be nice options.

Thank you for keeping us updated with what you decide and please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Additionally, I'm familiar with the area so please let me know if you have any Chicago questions.
