sw1 Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Dates are 1/23-1/24, secret hot rate $167, has $407 as normal rate, 80% recommended, tripadvisor 4.5 out of 5.0. Hoping this is the Mandarin but also a possibility it may be the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Amenities listed smoke-free rooms, fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, internet access. Accessibility: Accessible for visually impaired. accessible for hearing impaired, accessible path of travel, and in-room accessibility. Any help is appreciated, was trying to book the Mandarin Oriental for an anniversary night. Thx!
AaronJB Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Congrats on your anniversary! This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Fairmont Copley may have been upgraded to 5*. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
sw1 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Report Posted January 22, 2015 Thank you! I hesitated and did not purchase yet. My wife s not a fan of the "old world charm" type of hotels such as the Fairmount Copley. She likes more modern/contemporary types of properties and the Mandarin has been on our wish list (usually $500+/nt). We've already stayed at the Marriott, Sheraton, and Copley Sq Hotel in that area. BTW, not sure where this might be helpful to post, but at the Copley Sq Hotel, the rooms are indeed small. Stayed there one night by myself for business and it was tight even for just me. However, downstairs, (you enter around the corner) is a club/lounge called Storytime. No door charge and has always been a good time each time I've been there (drinks & dancing).
AaronJB Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Thank you for the note regarding the hotel and more about what you are looking for. Would the Mondrian be the only hotel of interest? If other hotels are acceptable, what would be your desired budget per night? We would be happy to offer other suggestions along the same lines of what you're looking for. thereuare Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 ... or any interest in what appears to be the InterContinental in the Beacon Hill zone? At $168/nite and with very good reviews this would seem to offer a very good value. Also, if budget isn't too much of an issue, i'm seeing what appears to be the Fifteen Beacon on PRICELINE EXPRESS for $336/nite. sw1 Posted January 22, 2015 Author Report Posted January 22, 2015 Yes, InterContinental would also be perfect. I was somewhat confused on that on as in the amenities the one that says "spa" is usually it, but it no longer has a Quincy Market area. Rezoned as Beacon Hill?
thereuare Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 I can't say if/when the zone boundaries in this zone have changed, but currently the InterContinental Boston is within the Beacon Hill-Downtown Boston zone. We update the Hotel List as we learn of any zone changes (either new zones added or a change in boundaries) and that list currently shows the InterContinental in the Beacon Hill zone (i'll also warn that it's dangerous to rely on one amenity, such as a Spa, to identify the hotel... always use all the amenities and any other information that is provided for increased confidence in your guess) Here is the full amenity set for the 5* hotel i'm seeing in the Beacon Hill zone that i'm guessing to be the InterContinental: Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... and should my guess be wrong, this hotel also shows a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, so that is your 'safety net' that it should still be a very nice experience even if some other hotel.
