I'm looking for a hotel for 1/17-1/19, central park south.

Priceline express shows:

4 Star, Central Park South, Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher)

Restaurant, Business Center

$94 per night Queen Bed - Wifi
$105 per night Queen Bed - Deluxe Room

I wish I can know the hotel due to concerns on bed bugs.  Should I be concerned about the "Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher)"

Many Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please start by reading your messages (which will also remove the RED BOX at the top of the page asking you to do the same ;) )

The amenities above are common to most 4* hotels in NYC so it would be difficult to have a high degree of confidence in any guess, but The Dream Midtown, Renaissance 57th St, The Shoreham hotel, and the 6 Columbus would all be among my top guesses.

I'm very familiar with NYC, other than cleanliness issues, what is it that you're looking for from this stay and what is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes)?

I'm interested in 3 options from Hotwire Easy View in 2 area.

2 guests, 1/17 to 1/19.

4-star collection

1. Midtown Central area, $81,

60% recommended (Shall I be concerned?)

Boutique hotel (only thing listed)

2. Midtown Central area, $110

75% recommended

Amenities: Pet friendly
  Boutique hotel
  Fitness center
  Business center
Internet access

3. Times Square - Theater District area,

 95% recommended (219 reviews)

did not list any amenities, though.

Would you please help me identify the hotels?  I want to know the exact hotels and check the bed bug reports.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the prompt response.

I'm with my 7 year old, looking for a relaxed and fun weekend.  As for the hotel budget, my comfort zone is below $150/day, but can go up to $200 if the place is REALLY good).  I already have a "back up" reservation at Mansfield, since it can be cancelled.  But I wish I could find some better deals in a better location.

Since you know NYC way better than I do, may I ask what suggestions your may have for activities for a 7 year old boy?

Off the top of my head, some quick ideas for kids:

1) indoor Ferris Wheel at Toys R Us Times Square

2) FAO Schwartz

3) Roosevelt Island tram (like a ski gondola) to Roosevelt Island, take roundtrip to take in the skyline view (all for the same cost as a subway ride)

4) top of Empire State Building or Top of the Rock

5) show (my kids really enjoyed Blue Man Group, but not sure if it will be your son's taste... Stomp is popular percussion show (if into music) and a whole plethora of kids shows around these days

6) ice skating at Bryant Park (or Rock Center)... neither is cheap, but the former likely cheaper than the latter (although i heard skate rental at Bryant Park is $9, which seemed excessive to me)

7) Times Square at nite

As far the a hotel goes...

I think the best value may be the 4* MTC for $94/nite Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Pet Friendly. Which i'm guessing is the Sheraton New York. This hotel will not blow you away in any category and is a 'standard business hotel', but it's a solid choice with a great location, and should you encounter any issues it's a national chain with good corporate systems in place for rectifying any problems (vs. an independent property where if you do have an issue it's often difficult to go up the chain of a command and get more than a 'sorry' for the front desk clerk)

If you're willing to spend a little more and roll the dice a bit i would go for the 4* hotel in Times Square with no amenities showing. I don't have any idea what this property is, but with the 95% recommendation from previous guests and the 5.0/5.0 rating on all categories that it asks users to rate after their stay, odds certainly favor this being a very pleasant experience. At $115/nite this may be the best bang for your buck, although a little more expensive than the one above.

Near the top end of your budget i thnk i see the Michelangelo Hotel at $167/nite (great reviews but may not be the best place for a 7 year old as it's a bit more 'old school boutique').. and at $182/nite i also see what looks like the Sofitel which gets great reviews, but it depends upon your budget as your son would likely prefer the extra $70/nite spent on some activities rather than a nice hotel. :)

You are right.  Seems they are back ...

But the MTC "sheraton" (guess) has increased price.

I got Mansfield's website price, about $310 for 2 nights, including breakfast.  queen bed deluxe.  It's not too bad, I guess.

Now, could the Times square hotel offered at hotwire be Hyatt?  I checked the hotwire hotel list on this forum, Hyatt is listed under 4 star, but "none amenities supplied by user."  Hotwire only showed 95% recommendation, but not even the tripadvisor rating...

Any thoughts?

pulled the trigger ....

Got Hyatt time square!  Compare to Mansfield, it doens't include breakfast, or the charm of of boutique hotel.  But I guess my kid would enjoy the bigger room, and I'll spend the saved $15 on breakfast ...
