Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Magnificent Mile Area - River North) Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers

Hi,

Looking for advice for 2 rooms for Saturday, March 21st.

We have typically used hotwire or priceline express - our most recent stay was Residence Inn Chicago Downtown River North back in September (Saturday night for Zac Brown concert at Wrigley).

We have no set itinerary - so woud value ideas on where to stay to enjoy some of the non-touristy parts of chicago.  We have done the Water Tower, Shedds, Soldier Field, Ed Debevic's Gino's East, etc.

We are 2 forty something couples looking to enjoy a nice weekend.  Watching some March Madness basketball in a cool pub - maybe a nice dinner or show.

I appreciate any insight.

Go Blue,

Tim

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Are you looking for the 21st only? What would be your desired budget for the night? Thankfully, rates are still on the low side during this period before they start moving up into April and May.

I'd also be more than happy to suggest options on things to do - let me know likes/dislikes and I would be happy to offer suggestions.

Also, sharing any prior wins as separate threads is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Assuming this was September of 2014, you have been a member here since October 2013 and this is your first post... please begin to share your wins with the board so that others can benefit from the information, just as you are hoping to benefit by those who have posted before you.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Thanks.

If you've seen a lot of the downtown sights, some of my main suggestions would be:

1. The Art Institute. If you've not been to the AI, it's a magnificent museum and one of the best sights that the city has to offer.

2. Chinatown. I'm not sure exactly when the water taxi starts up again (I believe it's in Mid-March?) but that's an easy way to get down to Chinatown and see some sights along the river along the way.

3. Lincoln Park/LP Zoo/Old Town. The Lincoln Park area has tons of great shops and restaurants. The Zoo is also wonderful (and free), while nearby Old Town offers the famed Second City theater.

With one night, it's difficult to do too much, but you could certainly do one or more of the above, as well as possibly fit something else in (the Hancock Observatory, for example.)

4* Mag Mile-RN $107. This amenity set would be a match for the Felix, Palomar and Hotel Chicago, but given the 4/5 tripadvisor rating I'd guess the Chicago.

4* Mag Mile-RN $96. Likely the Sheraton.

There's a 4* in the MP-Loop-Grant Park area w/Boutique, Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower for $115 (you may see a slightly different price.) That amenity set has been seen previously with the Swissotel. If the Swiss, that's a very nice hotel on the other side of the river from the Sheraton.

We chose the Sheraton for this trip and were extremely happy with the outcome.

The Front Desk manager allowed us to earn Starpoints for the stay even though it was booked through Hotwire.

The location and staff were excellent... we would definitely stay there again
