For longish stays (like 7 days), if one is willing to risk a move mid-way, it can make sense to check the shorter spans ... 2/5 days, 3/4 days, 4/3 days, 5/2 days.  To have success on a full seven days, a hotel has to have available rooms each of those days, and has to have provided inventory to Priceline/Hotwire each of those days.
