123barnes Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 I'm new, but here goes... thinking of driving up, staying for sightseeing, esp the American Museum of Natural History for my son. We have 2 adults, a 10 and a 17 yr old. Check-in Dec 28, Check-out December 30. Since we are driving, I realize parking is an issue and that we will be parking and using public transportation. Can you recommend areas right outside of city (not the main boroughs) that are easy access via public transportation, or any hotel recommendations. We are of course on a budget..lol Who isn't?
AaronJB Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide your desired budget per night and we would be happy to offer suggestions. Thankfully, this is a sort of "in-between time", as the Christmas shopping is over around the 15th and people aren't coming in for NYE until the 30th. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 It sound like you are driving from the South? The most convenient locations (Jersey City, Hoboken) both have high parking costs and extended street parking is limited... in Hoboken and Jersey City a residential permit is required for on street parking, if you ended up in Weehawken there is no street parking and the Sheraton there charges (i think ~$20/day) for parking. Your best option may be Secaucus (NJ) where all the hotels (that i'm aware of) offer free parking. If you're lucky you'll get ahotel that has a bus stop that would be very walkable from the hotels, worst case scenario is that you would have to drive to a nearby Park N Ride to take the bus into the city. I'm very familiar with this area so let us know once your plans are firm, as well as your desired budget and star rating, and we'll see what your options are. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
