zenmaster
I'm trying to book a hotel in the Orange County district for an upcoming wedding in February, from the 4th to the 11th. I've been doing my research, but I'm hesitating on how to NYOP. From previous wins posted on the forum, the prices can vary from 60 to 70$/night, When I put the check in date the 4th, and check out date the 11th, the median price for a 3.5* is 153$. However, when I put my check in date the 4th and check out date the 8th (hoping that I can add nights for the same price), the median price for a 3.5* goes down to 127$. I know that "add nights for he same price" is YMMV, but if I can save a couple of bucks it's a risk I'm willing to take. So what my best option ? A) check in feb 4th/check out feb 11th orB ) check in feb 4th/check out feb 8th and hope for add extra nights for the same price ? My ideal max bid would be 75$/night, is that realistic ? thanks for your help! Link to comment
AaronJB
That is the average retail rate, which is not always an entirely reliable indicator in terms of how to approach bidding. Rates do look noticeably cheaper from the 4th-8th - you will likely not be able to get the same rate for the remainder, but the hope is that the average of the two halves of the stay is less than if you booked the whole stay together. You may also not get the same hotel if you split your stay. Please confirm which zone/s would be acceptable and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed. zenmaster
Thanks for your help AaronJB ! We are more comfortable with the Disneyland/Anaheim Convention Center as our only acceptable zone. I've already identified the non 3.5* hotel zones being 1, 2, 3, 6, 16, 17, 18; thus I have 8 possible bids. Could I have 3 extra bids if I start with the check out Feb 8th and add 1 extra night to Feb 11th ? Is 75$ max bid realistic ? thanks ! Link to comment
thereuare
I'm doubtful that $75 will be enough for your complete stay, but if you want to give it a try you can do so as follows, using your SIX re-bid zones: Select 3.5* Disneyland Convention Center... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $75 Any questions feel free to ask. Good luck and let us know how it goes, and if rejected, we'll take it from there. zenmaster
6 re-bid zone ? I counted 7 (zone 1, 2, 3, 6, 16, 17, 18). Could I be mistaken ? Link to comment
thereuare
You're not mistaken... my eyes are failing. :) ... but please list your re-bid zones by name, and not by number, as the numbers next to each zone will change any time that PRICELINE adds, removes, or changes the zone names. Using your SEVEN re-bid zones: Select 3.5* Disneyland Convention Center... Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $75 I have also moved this thread to the correct section of the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. zenmaster
thanks for everyone's help ! I was successful with the bid, i did exactly what thereuare told me to do and I got a winning bid at the very last re-bid at 75$/night. I put the check out date to Feb 8th, hoping to get add nights at the same rate - they gave me the option, i added 3 nights but they were unable to fulfill my request ;( I guess I'll be bidding again for the remaining 3 days, and hope for the best! Chuck W.
That is a nice hotel for a great price. You will get hit with an additional mandatory "Resort Fee" of $14 per day. It gives you free internet and free transportation to Disneyland. There is plenty of free parking behind the hotel. Link to comment
thereuare
...I'll be bidding again for the remaining 3 days...
