avalanchis Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 On 12/2 I won a Priceline bid for the Vdara from 12/17 - 12/19 for $75 per night. I have another trip coming up from 2/28 - 3/3 and I would like to stay at a 5* in the Las Vegas Strip South area (I have some friends that are staying at the Luxor and I'd like to be close to them.) I tried Price.line again at $75 and $100 but both bids were rejected. Priceline list view currently shows Vdara at $142 / night for that date range. I'm wondering if my bids were rejected because the trip is partially over a weekend? Or perhaps because the trip is too far out? $142 seems like a pretty good deal, but if I can get a 5* room for less I'd like to know how. Any help with strategy would be appreciated! Thanks! Alan
thereuare Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Your previous win is during a very slow time of year in Las Vegas which is the reason for the very low price for the 5* hotel... your dates above are not necessarily busy, but nor are they as slow of a time as the pre-Christmas dates of your previous win. For for the information later in this post you'll need to search as follows to ensure you're seeing the complete list: 1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com and click the green 'See All Amenities' button OR 2) search HOTWIRE (or use the HOTWIRE tab at BiddingHelper.com) and...click the offeron the next page click the BOOK NOW linkin the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenitiesUsing the method(s) above (prices on your own search may differ by a few dollars): HOTWIRE has a 5* hotel in the Center Strip zone for $127/nite with: Free Parking Free Internet Condo Suite Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... best guess for this one would be the Vdara. There is also this 5* Condo property for $109/nite: Free Internet Suite Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Spa Kitchenette ... which is likely the Jet Luxury at the Vdara, which may or may not work for your needs. Both hotels are at the same location, but the 'Jet Luxury' are privately owned rooms and some have complained that they are no up to the same quality/standards as the 'regular' rooms, so up to you if the savings is worth the potential difference in room quality. If you would go for the higher priced room above and wanted to try to do better by bidding on PRICELINE for the Strip South zone, you could try as follows (if you could go for the lower priced room let us know and we can adjust the bid amounts accordingly): When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 5* Strip South... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125 Any questions feel free to ask (especially confirming your re-bid zones if you're new to the subject). If the bidding above is rejected you can go for the HOTWIRE offer that is just a few dollars more. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
