Barracuda3 Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 I'm searching for a hotel in the Downtown/Superdome area for 3/21/15-3/24/15. Two 4.5* hotels are showing up. One is listed at $195 and has Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Spa services. I believe this to be Le Pavillon, and at the top of the page it says "Book soon! The last person got the Le Pavillon Hotel." The other 4.5* is listed at $132 and shows Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Business center, Internet access. I found this interesting because there's no 4.5* boutique listed in the hotel list on this site, and furthermore, at the top of the Hotwire page it says "Book soon! The last person got the Le Pavillon Suites" I've done a fair amount of Googling and I can't find any mention of a "Le Pavillon Suites" separate from Le Pavillon Hotel. I know that Le Pavillon Hotel has suites, but why would they have a separate listing at $63 less per night than the regular rooms? I suppose that Hotwire could've upped one of the two 4* boutique hotels downtown (Hilton St. Charles or International House) to 4.5*, but the "Le Pavillon Suites" thing is intriguing. Has anyone ever come across anything like this?
thereuare Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 NOTE that the "Last person got ____" info is relative to the last purchase of a hotel at this star rating in the zone, NOT necessarily the specific hotel currently being offered. My guess for the 4.5* Boutique would be the Le Pavillon Suites. For the other 4.5* I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for this one: Free Internet Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... if this is what you're seeing my guess here would be the Le Pavillon. It's not outside of the realm of possibilities that HOTWIRE lists a different room type within the hotel as a different property... it's not common, but i recall Circus Circus in Las Vegas, as well as a few properties in Reno, had different star ratings for the same hotel based upon the room type that was being booked. Barracuda3 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Report Posted December 11, 2014 You are correct, when I followed your instructions I received the longer list of amenities for the $195 hotel. However, I still don't understand the distinction between Le Pavillon Hotel and Le Pavillon Suites. I can't find any evidence of the latter on the internet. Is it a separate hotel in a separate location?
thereuare Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 As per the Circus Circus example above... different towers at the hotel received different star ratings (and were listed separately on HOTWIRE) since the quality/experience of the room was different based upon the tower/room type. It's possible that HOTWIRE is listing the 'regular rooms' as one listing and the 'suite rooms' as a different listing, but there would be no way to know this until each is reported to the board as such. But more specifically for this trip... what is it that you're looking for from this stay and what is your maximum budget per nite? Are you willing to pay nearly $200/nite for a suite room? (assuming that is what the $195/nite property is) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Barracuda3 Posted December 15, 2014 Author Report Posted December 15, 2014 Thanks for all your help. I'm not willing to go as high as $195/night; the $136/night for the other 4.5* is probably about my limit. If/when I book this I'll use the provided link and post the results.

Barracuda3 Posted July 16, 2015 Author Report Posted July 16, 2015 I ended up booking a vacation package (flight+airfare) through JetBlue and stayed at Le Pavillon Hotel. The price ended up being about the same as if I had booked the airfare separately and chose the hotel I was looking at on Hotwire, without worrying about the hotel uncertainty.
thereuare Posted July 16, 2015 Report Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks for the additional follow-up and closing this thread. Hope you had a good trip and enjoyed your time in New Orleans. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
