huihsien8 Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Hello, I'm new to betterbidding, and am just wondering if anyone can help before I start bidding in priceline. I have set up Win Alerts for 5* bids for areas in tribeca/soho/upper east/upper west side for $110 on the dates above but haven't received any alerts these few days.. Am I being too ambitious on the price? $110 is too low for 5* hotel bids? Appreciate your responses, thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. In addition to the Winning Bid Alerts you may also want to sign up with our new service RateDrop as it will monitor prices for you and alert you to any deals (not just wins reported to the board), but as per below, i think you first need to get more realistic with your expectations. Unfortunately at current rates i don't think you're anywhere near the right budget that it will take for a 5* hotel in any of these zones (or for any of Manhattan) as you're likely looking at $300+ for a 5* hotel in any of these zones. (using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best 'regular rate' you're able to find at a 5* hotel one of these zones??) As well, how familiar are you with NYC, as these are not the zones that are typically bid most often by the average tourist... do you have reason to be in these specific zones this trip? I'm quite familiar with NYC (as well as PRICELINE and HOTWIRE) and if you let us know your needs for this trip, as well as your maximum budget per nite (before fees/taxes) we will try to help you find the best deal/value for your trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. huihsien8 Posted December 10, 2014 Author Report Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks for your response!Do you have any idea of the price that my bid should start from? If it is $300+, maybe I should start from $150?I did see an article of someone who posted about getting Tribeca grand hotel at $150 via priceline..I saw in a lot of sites that good hotel prices in NYC ranges from $300 to $1K plus.I'm not familiar with NYC, I just saw that this is a nice area...do you have any recommendations on areas (eg convenient & safe)? I'm just looking for a nice hotel..
