TMcGovey Posted November 30, 2014 Author Report Posted November 30, 2014 Flying into Puerto Rico thursday Feb 5th- Feb 8th for 3 nights before a cruise with Royal Caribbean. Hope this helps, Thanks!
AaronJB Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

thereuare Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 A slightly new amenity set for the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino would be my best guess for this one. TMcGovey Posted December 1, 2014 Author Report Posted December 1, 2014 Do people like the newer Sheraton overall? We will be staying for 3 nights before a cruise. I know it is close to the Royal Caribbean port but is it too far from condado area casinos, restaurants, beachs, ect? I dont mind walking or cabbing just curious how others like the location. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 The Sheraton has its own casino, but if your goal for these pre-cruise nites is the beach and/or restaurants i would look elsewhere. While on the subject, if you don't mind cabbing (from wherever you end up, as the following place is not walkable from most areas) this is a good locals place (but the area isn't that great, especially at nite, so ask the taxi to drop you right in front and then also ask the restaurant to call you a taxi for your return): La Casita Blanca 351 Calle Tapia San Juan, 00912, Puerto Rico Back to the hotel for these nites... what is your maximum budget per nite for this leg of your trip? TMcGovey Posted December 2, 2014 Author Report Posted December 2, 2014 I would say my max per night before resort fee would be around $200/night. I'm starting to think a smaller place rather then a big name resort closer to the condado area restaurants like "The Coral Princess Hotel" might suit us better for the money. I may be completely wrong haha. And thank you for the local restaurant recomendation we will definitely have to look into it!Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong area, Isla Verde perhaps?
jbui1018 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 I'm in the same boat as you but going 1/21-1/26, you can see my thread HERE. I'm looking at the same hotels and I have the same questions. I am very interested in what you end up getting and where.
thereuare Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong area, Isla Verde perhaps?Isla Verde is the 'real' beach area in San Juan... most of the Condado zone hotels have small man-made beaches and are a bit more of a 'lagoon' than what most consider to be a 'true' beach. It's also very touristy with lots of high-rise hotels and restaurants/shops to service out of town guests. I am seeing what looks to be the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel for $206/nite if this is of any interest. I don't know much about the Casablanca, but the reviews do look good, but i'll point out that it's located in Old San Juan and not really close to any beach (that i'm aware of). However, it can be booked HERE (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $186/nite and is fully refundable up until a day before your stay, so may work good as a back-up while you continue to monitor PRICELINE / HOTWIRE (you can also see other refundable options using our latest sister site BackUpBooking.com. TMcGovey Posted December 10, 2014 Author Report Posted December 10, 2014 Originally booked the Coral Princes Hotel for $625 for 3 nights (feb 5th-Feb 8th) But girlfriend was concerned about security being at a small boutique hotel. Took the gamble and locked in the Sheraton Puerto Rico Casino and hotel for $148/night $526.10 after tax and fees. Thanks for all the help
AaronJB Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Sweet deal for this Sheraton property! Glad you are satisfied with the win. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
