pacsur Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 I won at $81 for 11/25/14 at the 4 star Marriott gaslamp located in gaslamp south, I have stayed there many times and I have never had a bad night. After almost 2 weeks of trying to win another room for 11/28 I was having no luck bidding up to $91 for that day, I finally lowered to 3 1/2 star and had to go up to $84 for the Declan.First, the Declan is not in my opinion a 3 1/2 star, old and tired room that was in desperate need for a remodel, or at least the need for some deep cleaning, calling 5 times to the front desk trying to get wifi info and being routed to reservations each time, I finally had to go to the front desk and get the info. Other than a decent bed there are not many positives by staying there unless you like the airport noise with the very old windows that don't block much sound. Also don't count on Deck 12 as your hang out spot for food or drinks. It is also not in the gaslamp as advertised, it's only 3-4 blocks away, but I won't ever bid this area again, gaslamp south is more desirable I believe, and worth the money. After winning I went online to look at reviews for the hotel and restaurant, they were for the most part not very good, I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised and find out the reviewers were too picky, they were not.Bottom line is I would rather stay in a hotel circle 2 star than stay there again.I have always been very happy with all my wins over the last 5-6 years and have never felt the need to post a review, but beware if you are unfortunate enough to win at this place.
