Jinfante3 Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Hello,I need some help/guidance with booking a 5* Center Strip / South Strip (depending on website zoning) hotel in Las Vegas during the following dates: Thurs, Dec 11 – Sun, Dec 14, 2014. Preferably either the Cosmo or Aria for under $150 a night not including taxes and/or resort fees.I have never used Priceline or Hotwire so I need all the guidance possible. I’m trying to study all the previous posts to get a better understanding on how they list all of the amenities.I plan on, regardless what hotel I stay at, to attempt the $20 trick for an upgrade. I tried it at my last trip to Vegas during Jan 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel. I booked the room with air through Orbitz and got Mountain View-King and was upgraded to Paradis Tower Pool View Queen (there were 3 of us so it worked out perfectly). Many thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) The difficulty with the discount services is that, in the case of PRICELINE, you have to be willing to stay at any of the hotels at the star rating chosen with the zone/s chosen. For example, if you bid for a 5* South, you have to be willing to accept any of the potential 5*'s in the zone. With HOTWIRE, there are occasions where multiple hotels may appear the same way or a hotel may suddenly appear with a different amenity set. Are you only interested in the Aria/Cosmo? The cheapest 5* I'm seeing on the Strip for these dates on HOTWIRE is a 5* in Strip North for $135 w/Resort, Casino, Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower. This would likely be the Palazzo. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Let us know what you decide and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
Jinfante3 Posted November 20, 2014 Author Report Posted November 20, 2014 Thanks for answering! Do you know if Priceline offers the Jet Luxury at Vdara or is this only a Hotwire deal? I'm not interested in Jet Luxury so that'd be the only hotel I wouldn't be willing to bid on Center Strip location. If I move forward with Priceline, what would you suggest be my starting bid? Again, in order of preference Cosmo, Aria, Vdara, Bellagio. From your experience do these rates on Hotwire / Priceline go down as you get closer to the date of arrival? I will keep you updated on how I move forward.
thereuare Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Do you know if Priceline offers the Jet Luxury at Vdara or is this only a Hotwire deal?I don't believe this has ever been reported to the board as a PRICELINE win, but as per the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List, new hotels can be added at any time and you could be the first to report it to the board. ;) Again, in order of preference Cosmo, Aria, Vdara, Bellagio. When bidding on PRICELINE there is no way to target, or avoid, a specific property... you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. If you'd like to have some insight as to what you may receive before your purchase, then PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE would be a better option. From your experience do these rates on Hotwire / Priceline go down as you get closer to the date of arrival?Sometimes they do... and sometimes they go up in price. If you see what you think is a good deal and good savings vs. a conventionally booked room then better to lock it in then risk the rates moving higher and/or a different hotel being offered down the road (that maybe you're not as fond of) If I move forward with Priceline, what would you suggest be my starting bid? Please first decide how you'd like to proceed, then once you're ready to bid, let us know the zone(s) you're willing to accept and your maximum bid and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Jinfante3 Posted November 21, 2014 Author Report Posted November 21, 2014 I hope I’m not the one to add Jet Luxury Vdara Suites to that list... I don’t want it. I’ve read really bad reviews on it from Hotwire winners. I am wiling to accept any of the 5* South Strip hotels using NYOP. I am aware that I may get the Vdara and I am 100% ok with that. So how should I proceed? Again I do not want to go over the $150/night limit.
thereuare Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 5* Strip South... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $135 If the above is rejected HOTWIRE then has a 5* hotel in the Center Strip zone (90% recommended) for $135/nite with (don't confuse with the 80% recommended and lesser priced property which i am guessing to be the Jet Luxury): Free Parking Free Internet Condo Suite Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... best guess here would be the Vdara and you could then take this one as your best deal (and use the additional discount in my signature for an extra $10 off) Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
