iqdarko Posted November 16, 2014 Report Posted November 16, 2014 Looking for 2 Rooms, hopefully big spacious rooms.. Priceline Express: $275 Central Park South - Amenities: Pets Allowed - Which hotel might this be? $233 Upper West Side - Amenities: Swimming Pool Pets Allowed Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center - Which Hotel might this be? What can I get from "Name my own price"? As mentioned, my budget is up to $250, Hopefully $200!!! Thanks guys! :)
AaronJB Posted November 16, 2014 Report Posted November 16, 2014 Unfortunately, the majority of the rooms in NYC are small or very small. Additionally, this is also one of the busiest and most expensive times of year in the city. The 4* UWS would likely be the Empire, while the CPS listing unfortunately has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 ... my guess for the CPS property would be the Hudson Hotel; i agree with the guess above of the Empire Hotel for the UWS property (which also has some upgraded room types still within your budget) If bidding on PRICELINE are you willing to accept any hotel in the zone (including those will smaller rooms??) Note that if you include CPS in your 4* bidding the Hudson hotel becomes an option and their standard rooms are notoriously small (even by NYC standards)... would this be an acceptable option? Also note that in the MTE zone most 4* hotels are well located but a few can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable? Lastly, depending upon your needs, you may want to consider MSG (which may offer the best value for your dates) and/or Chelse (subways can be up to a 10 minute walk but this is a 'hot' area right now with lots of cafes, bars, clubs, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, etc. so it's still a very desirable area) Let us know how you'd like to proceed (and if bidding please confirm your desired zones and the maximum budget we should use) and we will advise accordingly. iqdarko Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 Thanks for your help.... I wont mind adding Chelsea and MSG to the mix! we wont be using much of the subway, so 10 min is fine in any case.. We are just looking for a nice hotel, spacious (as possible, remembering that this is NYC) Rooms and on a budget! So how should I proceed with the bidding in your minds? Thanks again!!
thereuare Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 I wont mind adding Chelsea and MSG to the mix! we wont be using much of the subway, so 10 min is fine in any case.. What about MTE (up to 15 minutes) and CPS (given the small standard rooms at the Hudson)... should we keep these included in the bidding? Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. iqdarko Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 yes please!! as long its at least a 4* hotel, we will be ok.... All the above areas are good! Thanks!
iqdarko Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 After bidding intensively, Adding zones as I go, starting from $190.... I reached $230 and still no win!! I decided to go a head, and use the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on Upper west side for $235 a night... I ended up, as per your prediction, The Empire Hotel... Sort of pleased, Not bad as it is 40% off!!! :P Anyone know if I can somehow upgrade only one room to Junior Suit? As on priceline I could only upgrade both rooms or none... Thanks again guys!!!
AaronJB Posted November 17, 2014 Report Posted November 17, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Very nice win for this property and glad you are satisfied with the result. I'd call the hotel about any upgrades - let them know you already have upgraded 1 and you'd like the other if possible, as well. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
