Area:

- Millenium Park - The Loop - Grant Park

- North Michigan Ave - River North Area

Wondering what criterias I should use for a 4* hotel, is it reasonable to find something < $90 CAD a night in the areas noted above?

Looking to check-in Dec 12 and check-out Dec 14 (2 nights)

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

$90 CAD is about $80 USD. Personally, I'd try to stay North of the River or around the river unless you need to stay in the Loop area. If you are okay with any of the 4*'s in the River North-NMA area, I would start at $60 and work up by $3's using re-bidding. Please ask if you have any questions before bidding.

Thank you for that, I do prefer to stay in the Chicago loop/grant park area. I decided I can try to settle for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal (I originally wanted a hotel with a view of the river but with my budget - this is unlikely).

There is currently a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for my chosen dates:

4 Star Hotel Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area

Guest Rating 8+

Fitness Center  Business Center

Standard Room - Double Occupancy

$96CAD/night

Any idea what this can be or is it truly fair game for express deals?

If you are looking to stay in the Loop, bidding is likely a similar price point (start at $55, work up by $3 at a time, I'd guess a likely accepted bid is around $60-70.)  I see a 4* in the Downtown-Loop-GP area on Hot.wire w/Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower for $80. That would likely be the Hyatt on Wacker.

In terms of the PRICELINE EXPRESS, the Hyatt on Wacker has been seen with just fitness, business previously but those are amenities common to all 4* hotels in the zone and could easily be something else not yet reported to the board or a new amenity set for a hotel previously reported.

Thank you, when referring to your prices. I assume you mean start at $55 USD? I did 75-90 and not luck with 4* searches in the Loop/Grant Park area for Priceline earlier today, should I still try @ $55 CAD?

I was also unable to find the hotel you found on Hotwire, using my criterias of Dec 12-14 for 4* searches, unless again, your $80 was in USD, then I would have to do the math.

All of the prices I noted are USD$. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions before bidding.

I am trying to decide if the ~20-30 premium (CAD) is worth going from 4* to 4.5*. This is my first time in the city and want to know if having a nice hotel is going to improve my experience. Any advice?

I am trying to be conservative with budget but if I can make a case - I would not mind spending up to $120 a night.

So I went with the 3.5* hotel with Hot.wire and it was as it turns out - Club Quarters Wacker as expected (but not River Hotel -- I know they share the same building). Really hoping I get a room with the beautiful view of the river...

Does anyone know if I can contact the hotel with requests, provided I booked via Hot.wire?

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were expecting and are happy with deal you received.

You can certainly call the hotel with any requests that you have for this stay, but whether they will be able to honor your requests will be dependent upon a lot of different factors (hotel occupancy, what's available at time of check-in, mood of the front desk clear at time of your call and/or check-in, etc, etc)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us add this new amenity set for this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.

Enjoy your stay.

There's a Corner Bakery effectively next door to this property. There's so many options for meals I wouldn't recommend this as a destination, but it's an awesome room service alternative. Not outstanding, but kind of a fun, fast alternative is Wow Bao (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wow-bao-chicago-3), which has breakfast options as well. Finally, Wildberry (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-pancakes-and-cafe-chicago-2) is an easy walk from your hotel for breakfast. Those are just a few very quick options within easy walking distance of your hotel. Let me know likes/dislikes and I'd be happy to offer further suggestions.

Enjoy your stay.
