The Hotel Carmel or possibly a new amenity set for the Days Inn would be maybes, but this could still be something else. I'm seeing what may be the Wyndham Santa Monica for around $30 more per night (the price you see may vary slightly.). While unfortunately more expensive, it would seem like a decent upgrade, given how negatively reviewed the 2* is. You could also try bidding for a higher star rating and hopefully try to get something in the neighborhood of what the 2* is costing.
