sunnychick Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 I'm currently trying to bid on a 4* hotel in the beach area of Fort Lauderdale for November 28-30. So far none of my bids have been accepted but I'm currently seeing a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for a Fort Lauderdale beach hotel that's listed as a 3* for $111 which doesn't seem too bad. Amenities are a pool, restaurant and business center. When I'm looking at the list on here it only lists 2, 4* express deals; the Sonesta and Pier 66. I'm wondering if this 3* that I'm seeing is the Sonesta? I know that the star ratings don't always align with what Priceline uses. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Please provide a follow-up for your prior Key West Hotwire thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to take a look at the above post.) Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
sunnychick Posted November 7, 2014 Author Report Posted November 7, 2014 Oops, sorry about that, just added a follow-up :)
AaronJB Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board and unfortunately, these are common amenities. I'd guess the Ocean Sky would be a maybe, as may be the Royal Beach Palace, but those are just guesses and this may be something else. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 So far none of my bids have been accepted... How high have you already bid for a 4* property in the Beach zone? What is your maximum bid for a 4* before considering lowering your star rating to 3.5*, 3*, or taking the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above? sunnychick Posted November 10, 2014 Author Report Posted November 10, 2014 I've bid up to $110 for a 4*. I'll probably go up to $120-130. I probably won't lower my star rating and bid lower, I'm on the fence about some of the 3* hotels in that area. I'm still debating taking the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal since I have an extra 10% off as well. I'll update when I finally make up my mind

sunnychick Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 Just wanted to give an update since I'm in Ft. Lauderdale now. I ended up going with the back-up hotel I had booked the day I started to bid. I tried going as high as $150 for a 4 but no dice. This weekend is considered a holiday weekend though so I'm sure that contributed to rates remaining high. At any rate, I'm staying at a small boutique hotel right on the beach, I couldn't beat the rate for the location. Thanks for the help though.
thereuare Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Thanks for the update and closing this thread with your decision. When PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for a given trip, try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings (and BackUpBooking.com provides the same interface but will show only refundable rates) Enjoy the rest of your trip.
