sioux100 Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 I am looking for a 5* hotel for the dates listed above. My budget is between $200-300 per night. I would like to get a king bed, though reading the posts about some hotels (particularly in NYC?) refusing to honor requests from PL guests makes me a bit nervous—I’m hoping they would accommodate honeymooners, even if they are PL users! Hotwire prices are higher than my budget, except for a MC property that I think from descriptions would be the Westhouse, which I don’t want because of very poor recent reviews. Because of this I think I should concentrate on PL. I am interested in the CPS, UES and TS/TD areas because those are the only ones on the BB PL hotel lists that have five stars. Here’s where I get really, really confused! The only 5* listed for CPS in The Quin. If I use the Name Your Own Price feature of PL using CPS as the area, would I be fairly certain to get the Quin? Similarly, would the UES 5* probably end up as the Surrey, and the TS/TD 5* as the Chatwal? I’d appreciate your bidding advice for best results. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Congrats to your son and his fiancee on their honeymoon! A couple of notes: 1. The list of hotels on Betterbidding provides the hotels that have been reported to the board. New hotels are reported all the time; for example, there may be another 5* in CPS besides the Quin. In terms of checking which areas have 5*, you have to go by what is able to be selected during the bidding process. If you click an area and 5* is available to be clicked, then there is a 5* in that zone. MTE and ESB also have 5* possibilities - would these zones be acceptable? 2. In terms of bed, there is no guarantee in regards to bed type, although you can call the hotel after booking to try and make a request. A king bed may not be available at some properties based on availability and that rooms are often smaller-than-average in NYC. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials If you're able to stretch your budget just a bit, PRICELINE EXPRESS has this 5 STAR CENTRAL PARK SOUTH where you can get a King sized bed for $316/nite (if you want you can book a Queen at $294/nite) Does this one work for your needs? (although given The Quinn is in this zone there would be no way to exclude this from the possibilities) I'll also add that there is often a big price jump between 5* and 4.5* properties... perhaps a 4.5* might work for this trip? Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we will take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
