louise1975 Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Hi,First time actually trying to bid/ get a hotel room in NYC. I relocated away from NYC but returning for 2 nights 12/12-12/14 and need a room. Nothing fancy needed as I am just visiting colleagues and some friends. Clean and safe. What is the best way to get a good deal? Bidding? What is a realistic number to bid for say clean safe room for 2 nights? I am assuming a 3 star or are 2 stars ok for the city? Will be visiting friends in Queens so prefer to stay on the East side but as long as near subway or quick cab ride up town is fine. Is it even possible to get a room for $150 / night by bidding? Any help would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Bidding on PRICELINE is usually results in a slightly lower price vs. PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE. We typically recommend sticking with 3* and above in NYC; while you may get a lower rated hotels that suits your needs just fine, there is also the chance that you receive something that is below your expectations and wish you had a paid a bit more and/or for a higher star rated hotel. However, if you're not aware, these are expensive nites in NYC (the last weekend of the busy holiday season) so it may be difficult to stay within your targeted $150 budget. One option you may want to consider THIS offer (check your dates on the landing page) thru PRICELINE EXPRESS which is a 2* property in the LES zone for $166/nite with Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Business Center. Although this property is 2* rated, it does also have a 9.0 or better user review recommendation, so this helps assure that it will be one of the 'better' ones at this star rating. This property has not yet been reported to the board, but my guess for this one would be the Howard Johnson Manhattan Soho in New York City. Do you want to take this PRICELINE EXPRESS or try 'rolling the dice' by bidding on PRICELINE? If the latter, please let us know which zones (by PRICELINE name) are acceptable, as well as the star rating and maximum bid you'd like to try for, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
