eastmain
Could you please recommend a bidding strategy for a 3.5*-4* hotel near the Theater District? My budget is $150-$180/night. Also I can book Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square, 4 which I've read some very good reviews, for $201/night (govt rate) as backup. Thanks so much. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Look at the priceline maps for this area, is anything in the MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS zones acceptable?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy. eastmain
To be honest, I really don't know anything about NYC (this will be my 1st visit). In addition to the bidding strategy, please make a recommendation which area is best to stay in. The purpose of the visit is a Broadway show on Sat evening (4 Feb). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!I just realized I posted this question in the Hotwire section as opposed to Priceline...sorry. Link to comment
thereuare
For the average tourist just about any property in the MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS zones should be fine. Midtown NYC is compact enough that although it may be too cold to walk some places (from one end of a zone to the other end of an adjacent zone), mass transit is usually readily available and if not, cabs are generally inexpensive. When bidding 4* in NYC you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. This is how i would bid at this point....Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. eastmain
Thanks for your help! I did exactly what you suggested and got a great deal.(see "NYC - Near Theater District - 3-5 Feb 06" post) Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your win!Certainly a better deal than the $200 at the Doubletree and puts you well under your budget... and also puts you closer to the theater district. Can you confirm the that the dates of your stay are 2/3-2/5, as one of the titles you posted indicated 1/6-1/8, just want to make sure we currently have it correct (and that you didn't change the dates of your trip)Have a great time in NYC, we're local to the area so if you have a question about anything feel free to ask.
