mmc_80 Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 I have been watching this on Hotwire for a little over a week. I went ahead and got it knowing I would get the Novotel Berlin Mitte. This choice was alright with me for the price. It was listed for $70.00. Here is the breakdown for 4 nights:4 nights Hotwire Hot Rate Room@ $70.00/night $280.00Tax recovery charges & fees $42.48Subtotal $322.48Hotwire Total $322.48 Hotel AmenitiesFree InternetPet friendlySmoke-free roomsFitness centerRestaurant(s)Business centerInternet accessAccessibilityAccessible for visually impairedAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityWheelchair accessibleAccessible bathroomAccessible parkingRoll-in shower Also states there will be $14 resort fee at check in payable to resort.
das_ubersoldat Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 Also states there will be $14 resort fee at check in payable to resort. I don't think there is any kind of resort fee...
AaronJB Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Nice win for this property and glad you are satisfied with the win. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
mmc_80 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Report Posted October 29, 2014 I don't think there is any kind of resort fee...It states 5% of nightly rate fee to pay at resort. Mentioned that before I purchased the deal, and it estimated the 5% to $14 after I purchased and I had all the specifics on the resort. Good to know there might not be a fee. All the better if there isn't a fee. But I will be prepared in case there is.
hopeland Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 The 5% "resort fee" is actually the 5% Berlin city hotel tax. You have to pay it no matter what, but the question is whether it's rolled up into Hotwire's taxes and fees calculation or if it is separate and collected at the hotel. For whatever reason, Hotwire doesn't seem to collect it at time of booking, so you'll have to settle with the hotel upon your stay. I guess the one upside of that is that if you actually don't end up staying at the hotel, then that tax amount wouldn't be collected. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/berlin-introduce-tax-tourist-hotel-stays
das_ubersoldat Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 The city tax doesn't apply to business travellers B) That's also the reason why Hotwire can't collect it in advance since you will be asked that question when you arrive...
