ssmedt Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Hi, I am hoping you can help me bid for a hotel in London. My daughter is studing at UC London next to the British museum. I am going to visit her from 10/28 - 11//6 but we will be in Vienna from 10/30 to 11/2. I need 2 different stays. one from 10/28 - 10/30 then another from 11/2 - 11/6. I am arriving from LHR at 2pm on 10/28 and we are leaving again on 10/30 to go to Vienna. I would like to stay fairly close to my daughters apt. which is on Bedford Place near the British Museum but anywhere fairly central is good. We have theater tickets on Wednesday night so closer to soho is good too. We are going to leave for Vienna from Gatwick if that makes any difference. I am looking for anything from 3 star and up as long as it is in a good locations with a good bed and would like to pay $175 at the most. Could you help me bid for this? Thank you,Suzanne
thereuare Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use separate threads for each leg of your trip. We will use this thread for the London part of your trip, please feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for the Vienna leg of your stay. For London, it looks like your daughter is in PRICELINE's 'Bloomsbury - Marble Arch - Kings Cross Station & British Museum' zone... is this the only zone you're willing to accept OR are there any other nearby zones? I don't think your budget should be an issue as PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 3.5* hotel in this zone for $128/nite (it's only a double bed... would this be OK?) If this is acceptable, do you want to try bidding at the 3.5* level OR do you prefer to try for a lower priced 3* hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there. ssmedt Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Posted October 22, 2014 Do they have queen beds? A double might be bit tight because my daugther may stay with me some of the nights. I am ok started with a 3.5. I'd like to stay in the bloomsbury, soho, mayfair area. Can we just start with the 10/28-10/30. I am exploring a vrbo for the 11/2 - 11/6 I just looked at the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals too. I should be able to get a better price than the express deals then right? thanks suzanne
AaronJB Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 There is no way to know exact bed type when using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. PRICELINE EXPRESS does sometimes list bed type as an option, then you can see various options for the listing. Thank you for keeping us updated and please let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Do they have queen beds? The 'issue' is that all that is guaranteed by PRICELINE is a room that will accommodate double occupancy. Although it does occur occasionally, in the US you rarely see rooms with only one double bed, but it's much more common in Europe. If the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer doesn't show the bed type, there is no way to ensure that you won't receive a room with only one double bed... is this a risk you're willing to accept?
