JennyNog Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Hi, I am a first time bidder looking for a hotel in New York City from Dec 2 to 5th. I am not picky about the area as long as it is in Manhattan. I am just looking for anything 3* plus at a decent price. Was hoping to get it booked for around 150-160 a night. Is that realistic at all? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Unfortunately, this is really the prime time for holiday shopping/festivities in NYC and rates are definitely on the high side, although not quite as bad as they have been in years past. For 3* or above, you're likely looking at more towards the $175-190 (bid, before taxes/fees) range. Would this be acceptable? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
JennyNog Posted October 14, 2014 Author Report Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks for your response! I will go up to 200 if I have to. Although I do see a three star in the lower east side on Express deals for 174 right now so maybe it's my best bet to just go with that.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 If you'd like to try bidding on PRICELINE please list all the zones within NYC that are acceptable and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. If you prefer to go for the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer please provide the full list of amenities that PRICELINE associates with this property and we'll have a look at this listing. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we will advise accordingly. JennyNog Posted October 15, 2014 Author Report Posted October 15, 2014 The listing on PRICELINE EXPRESS is as follows Lower East Side Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) Fitness Center Free Internet Free Breakfast Business Center I feel like a total idiot but I cannot find the list of zone codes for the life of me. I am literally ok with any of the zones within Manhattan though.
Romelle Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 For the zone names, just enter 'new york city, ny' in the blue and white Priceline QuickQuote box just above on the right side. Click GO. You don't need to even enter the dates for this. You want to list the zones by name rather than using the numbers, since the numbers can change when a new zone is added or one taken away. Abbreviations of initials are often used, like MSG for Madison Square Garden and MTE for MidTown East. Romelle
thereuare Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 My guess for the PRICELINE EXPRESS above would be the Blue Moon Hotel. For the PRICELINE zones that you can bid on, use our BiddingHelper.com tool and search for 'NYC, NY' and the first tab that is shown by default will list all the zones in this region. NOTE that you probably do NOT want all of the zones listed, for example: Morningside Heights - Harlem... is this really an acceptable location? Also, some zones are not within Manhattan (Brooklyn, Long Island City, etc) and it's unclear if these would be acceptable or not (based upon your previous comments i'm assuming these are not acceptable, but always best to confirm so that we're on the same page). If you're not familiar with NYC and need help clarifying which zones are considered to be well located/more convenient then others just let us know and we will advise accordingly.
