GreatWhite Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 Hi there, I'll be in NYC from 11/14 till 11/17 with a buddy and I'm looking for help bidding for a room with two beds in Manhattan. We'll be mostly doing Street Photography, so we're looking for places were we can find interesting people right outside the hotel. I'd like to keep it under $200 a night for a 3, 3.5 or 4 star hotel. I narrowed down to the areas below, but I'm open for suggestions. - CPS- Chelsea- ESB- Midtown East- Midtown West- Soho/Tribeca- Time Square- Union Square- UES Thanks a lot
AaronJB Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 Bidding is usually going to result in a room with 1 bed in NYC. If you search on PRICELINE EXPRESS, are you seeing a listing of interest with 2 beds under bed choice option? If so, please provide the details of the listing (price, amenities, star rating, zone.) Or, if you search for 2 adults and 2 children (to indicate 4 people so that you should get more bedding than 1 bed) on HOTWIRE, are you seeing anything of interest? If so, please provide the details of the listing (price, amenities, star rating, zone.) ... OR are you willing to take the risk of receiving a room with only one bed? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
GreatWhite Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 Great, thanks for the heads up. I followed your suggestion and searched Hotwire for 2 adults and 2 children and came up with the hotels below. Any chance you can identify them easily? - Midtown Central area - 3 stars - $179 Amenities:Smoke Free Rooms Business Center Internet access KitchenetteAccessibilityAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomRoll-in shower - East Village - Lower East Side area - 3 stars - $190 Amenities:Free InternetFitness Center - Empire State Building area - 4 stars - $194 Amenities:Pet friendly Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s)Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Spa Services- Chelsea area - 3.5 stars - $198 Amenities:Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Restaurant(s) Business Center - Times Square - Theatre District area - 3.5 stars - $208 Amenities:Pet friendly Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s)Business Center Internet accessAccessibility:Accessible for the blindIn-room accessibilityWheelchair accessible - Upper East Side area - 4 stars - $209 Amenities:Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s)Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm local to the area so if you don't mind we'll take a slightly different approach and i'll list what i believe to be your best options at under (or slightly over) $200/nite: 4* MSG for $177/nite: Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower --> Wyndham New Yorker 3* MTC for $191/nite: Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Kitchenette, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower --> Salisbury Hotel 4* ESB for $200/nite Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa, Pet Friendly --> likely Affinia Dumont, but with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating it should be a very good property even if some other hotel Assuming all my guesses above are correct, my choices would be: Affinia Dumont based upon the 4.5/5.0 TA rating which almost ensures a high quality property Wyndham New Yorker for the prime location Salisbury Hotel for the basic accommodations with a good location, but this area will more likely put you around other tourists as opposed to 'interesting' locals Your thoughts/questions on the above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
GreatWhite Posted October 14, 2014 Author Report Posted October 14, 2014 Hi there, I saw a drop in rate for the Empire State Building area - 4 stars to $183 + Tax last night and went for it. It ended up being the Affinia Dumont for a total of $709.06 for the period, which is not bad at all. I'm looking forward to this stay. Keeping my fingers crossed for two beds, which I believe it would happen without issues since I searched for 2 adults and 2 children. Thanks for you help.
AaronJB Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Definitely a nice win for this well-reviewed Affinia property. Glad you are looking forward to your stay. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
