ndeek024 Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Hi, I'm a student travelling on a budget, planning on visiting NYC for first time, checkin Monday, checkout Thursday Jan. 1st. What would you suggest a good bidding price is for priceline hotels 2star (3 nights)? as well, out of curiosity that a 4star hotel may work with my budget since I'm booking now, what should I bid for 4star hotel? **2 beds***preferably times square, but lower or upper Manhattan would do. Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! Few comments to get started... I'm a student travelling on a budget, planning on visiting NYC for first time, checkin Monday, checkout Thursday Jan. 1st.To confirm, your check-in is Dec 29? What would you suggest a good bidding price is for priceline hotels 2star (3 nights)? as well, out of curiosity that a 4star hotel may work with my budget since I'm booking now, what should I bid for 4star hotel? What is your expected budget per nite for this trip? **2 bedsPRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request (especially for a stay which includes New Years Eve, one of the busiest nites of the year for NYC hotels). If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE would still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)... or PRICELINE EXPRESS if you're able to find a hotel within your budget that shows the 'Bed Choice' option and one of the options listed is for a room with two beds. ndeek024 Posted October 6, 2014 Author Report Posted October 6, 2014 Yes, check-in would be the 29th. Expected budget per room would be 110/night, and sure, Hotwire is a perfectly fine alternative.
thereuare Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Your budget is not realistic for a hotel in Manhattan for these dates. As noted above NYE is one of the most expensive nites of the year (not to mention you're hoping to be around Times Square and want two beds in the room (which any many hotels is considered an upgrade)). If you search HOTWIRE for triple/quad occupancy do you see anything that is close to your budget? Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these dates? Are you actually more than double occupancy OR just have two people who want separate beds? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
