Help with SDF to MSY

Hi there.

 

I have used Priceline for hotels before, but never for flights. Is Priceline or Hotwire better for flights?

However, my fiance and I are heading down to New Orleans this weekend for his best friend's wedding, and are really regretting not having booked flights. Our alternative is to make a 10-12 hour drive, which we would really like to avoid.

The dates are 10/1-10/5 (wednesday to sunday).

All of the last-minute fares I have found are $660+. What are the chances of us bidding for a flight around $300? Is it possible to guess on arrival times? We would be thrilled with a super-early flight but a very late flight would put a big damper on our plans. Is it possible to tell which is more likley?

Unfortunately, there is really no guarantee as to when the flight may leave and no way to guess. Would that be an acceptable risk?
