SD7 Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Hi! I am looking for a 3.5* or higher from Nov 29th to Dec 2nd 2014 (3 nights). I have never bid in NYC before and need some advice as far as what we might get at 3.5* - 4* for around $200-$250 a night. I wanted to stay in times square but will consider other areas close by. Are there other zones we should bid close by that could get us a better hotel and if so which ones? Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can start with the Priceline Hotel List which contains all the hotels that have been reported to the board (sorted by zone and then by star rating). Also, be sure to note the comments at the top of the hotel lists to understand the limitations and that the hotel lists should not be considered complete (they can never be considered complete as new hotels can be added at any time, and other hotels can be upgraded/downgraded). If you're ready to move forward let us know which zones (by PRICELINE name) you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly. To get you started, some of the most popular zones include (with comments next to each where there are some caveats you should be aware of): MTE - most hotels well located but a few can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway MTW TS CPS - contains the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms ESB MSG Chelsea - some hotels can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway but this is a 'HOT' area right now with lots of restaurants, bars, clubs, boutiques, etc. so even with a 10 minute walk it's still generally considered a very desirable and sought after zone Let us know your thoughts/questions and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. SD7 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Report Posted September 30, 2014 Thanks for the response! I have narrowed it down to TS and MTE
thereuare Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip? Let us know and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. SD7 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Report Posted September 30, 2014 I'm willing to pay more for 4* :)
thereuare Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 4* TS... Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* MTE... Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* TS and MTE... Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $190 If the above is rejected PRICELINE EXPRESS has THIS 4 STAR MTE property for $191/nite and you can this as your best deal (Indoor Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center... best guess would be the ONE New York) Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
