Hotwire Hotel: 3* New York City (Times Square) HOTEL???

I might have just experienced an issue with Hotwire's system and am wondering if this has happened to others....  

 

I had 2 Hotwire tabs open with 2 difference hotel quotes in NYC for Oct 11-15 -- Madison Square Gardens & Times Square. I wanted the hotel in Madison Square Gardens and put my credit card into this quote to book it.  Unfortunately it was sold out...so Hotwire automatically booked me into the hotel that was open in my second browser - Times Square.  Honestly, if it wasn't for the total price charged to my credit card (which was more money), I wouldn't have even noticed.  I went to see my history (just to make sure it wasn't my mistake) and sure enough, I put my credit card info into the MSG hotel NOT the TS hotel.   

 

I immediately called Hotwire Customer Service. The CSR was friendly enough, but she said that due to their no cancel, no change policy, even if it was a system error they could only re-book another hotel for me & refund the original amount. The couldn't simply refund.   By the time I actually got through to a live person, my choices were more limited to re-book another hotel.

 

Wondering if this has happened to others and if this was really the best they could have done for me?    After this experience, I'd suggest not to have more than 1 Hotwire browser/tab open when you are booking your hotel....just in case.

In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, dates of your stay and amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view all of this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

We will then comment accordingly regarding your situation above.
