OceanBoy Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 I need a car in Boston for about a month and was wondering if the most economical way would be to bid on Priceline.I usually use Priceline for rental cars, but renting for a month is new territory for me.I figured they would accept a really low bid per day for a rental this long. But maybe not. Any tips, recommendation or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

OceanBoy Posted September 25, 2014 Author Report Posted September 25, 2014 Oct 2 - Nov 2 Car Rental Checker shows minimum $30/day retail
thereuare Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 I figured they would accept a really low bid per day for a rental this long. Not necessarily... if there is even just one day within your date range that has very high demand (or the rental company is currently sold-out (or nearly sold-out) they may not make any inventory available to the opaque suppliers for that one date and that would make them ineligible to accept your bid for the entire date range. I'm seeing the $30/day rate thru HOTWIRE, are you seeing a similar rate thru 'retail' booking channels as well? What is the minimum size car class you're willing to accept? Given the $30 rate what would be your maximum bid for this rental? Also, do you need the vehicle every day for the 30 day period, as it may be cheaper (especially if you'll be paying for parking) to just rent on a day-by-day (or a few days at a time) when you need the car. Lastly, be sure to check your insurance (as well as your credit card if you intend to use them for collision) as there is a limit to the number of days you can rent a car and still be covered under each of their agreements. (if this is an issue for you let me know as i once had a 30+ day rental and had to get additional insurance (thru America PRICELINE EXPRESS) which worked out to be very good for my needs and inexpensive) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
