Jane68 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on securing a hotel in Boston central (Copley Square Back Bay, Boston Commons, Beacon Hill) for a 4 star (or even 3.5) hotel for October 6-8, 2014 (2 nights). Everything I've seen is around $300-450?! I never knew Boston was so expensive :( Thank you in advance!
AaronJB Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Unfortunately, the Fall can be quite expensive in Boston. What would be your desired max bid per night for this stay? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jane68 Posted September 17, 2014 Author Report Posted September 17, 2014 I would have thought Fall would be cheaper than the summer :( My max bid would be $250 for a 4 star hotel. Thanks for helping out.

Jane68 Posted September 17, 2014 Author Report Posted September 17, 2014 @thereuare - thank you for your bidding strategy. Just to clarify, are these the correct re-bid zones? Also - is there any possibility they will trick you and give you a 4 or 5 star hotel in the below areas that they hadn't listed on their website? 1) Brookline - Fenway - Newton2) Jamica Plain3) Medford - Somerville4) Newton West5) Quincy - Braintree Area6) Saugus7) South Boston8) Watertown Thanks for all your help!!
thereuare Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 When bidding 4*, currently all eight of the above are re-bid zones (always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed), but you missed one re-bid zone as there are NINE such re-bid zones available. Also - is there any possibility they will trick you and give you a 4 or 5 star hotel in the below areas that they hadn't listed on their website? Not 100% sure of the question here... 1) if you're using the bidding page at PRICELINE to determine your re-bid zones you should be safe, but you have to be comfortable with any strategy you use 2) if you're using the 'retail' hotels at PRICELINE to determine what hotel(s) you may get, then this is not correct as some hotels participate in the 'bidding' side of their service but not the 'retail' side (and vice-versa) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes (or if you need clarification on the one re-bid zone you're missing) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Jane68 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Report Posted September 18, 2014 Tried adding re-bid zones and went up to $250. No luck :(
thereuare Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Sorry to hear you weren't successful with this first round of bidding. My guess is that you're likely within $10-$20 of a win at a 4* hotel for these nites... do you want to increase your budget and bid a little higher, lower your star rating, consider adding other nearby zones, or wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead? I am seeing what i'm guessing to be the 3.5* Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers for $237/nite for your dates... rooms are a little small, but the location is good, imo. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
