josephsc
I realize this coming weekend is a busy weekend in New York, but I'm looking for a room for the Sunday/Monday following the weekend. Ideally, we want to stay in Soho at a 4* establishment -- but as an alternative, we're willing to stay 4* at a Mid-town location.I'm having a hard time getting a sense of how expensive these dates are going to be. So far based previous posts, I've bid on PL: 1) 4* (Downtown - SoHo - Financial District) - $200 -- rejected 2) 4* (Downtown - SoHo - Financial District) - $230 -- rejectedBefore I start bidding up further, does anyone have a good idea as to what the appropriate price point for these dates are? thereuare
Would you consider splitting this bid?If you are, i may have a viable solution to get you Downtown within the prices you have already bid... but it will involve changing properties. josephsc
I should have mentioned that -- yes I'm willing to split the bids to different dates. What do you have in mind? Link to comment
thereuare
For 12/11:Hotwire has the following:4* $177 (likely the Tribecca Grand or the Millenium Hilton3.5* $165 (likely the Embassy Suites)For 12/12:Hotwire has a 3.5* believed to be the Embassy Suites for $419Embassy Suites website for this date is $359/nitePurchase the above on Hotwire, assuming we're correct on the Embassy Suites identification, apply for the double the difference guarantee:$419 - ($60 x 2) = $300/niteOf course if you don't want to change hotels you can make both purchases above for the 3.5* (and purchasing the nite of 12/11 first will decrease the chances of being 'wrong' on the Embassy Suites identification for the second stay).Of couse you can also try to beat the above prices (for 12/11) on Priceline, but no matter how you play the above i think the above gives you what you're seeking and within prices you've already bid.Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes. josephsc
Well, in the end for the night of 12/12 (Monday night), I took it up as far as $290 on Priceline for 4* in Soho and Midtown locations -- and no luck. I was rather surprised with the pricing difference relative to 12/11 (Sunday night). I ended up staying in a friend's apartment since he went out of town. Thanks for the guidance! Link to comment
