ekhwang Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 I just booked this today, Sept. 5th, and was not expecting the Intercontinental as I thought it was a 4.5 star hotel according to multiple websites. When I did purchase the hotel, the hotel details description actually stated that it was a 4.5 star hotel. It was a pretty good price however for that hotel, but I was confused. I called Hotwire and asked them why they considered this a 5 star and the description of the hotel in Hotwire, actually states that it is a 4.5 star. They told me that, they can bump up a half a star for positive customer reviews? Even more confusing. No refund was possible as I was getting irritated by the customer service person's corporate answer. Anyway, if you are expecting St. Regis or Mandarin or Four Seasons type property in the 5 star range for Hotwire for this area, then know that you will most likely get the Intercontinental, which is actually a 4.5 star upgraded to a 5 star hotel arbitrarily by Hotwire policy. Just sayin...
