Hi. I'm looking to get a two-night stay for Dec 31st and Jan 1st in Danbury only. I can get a 3 or 3.5 star hotel for $109 using Better Bidding's hotel checker. So I want to know if I can get a better price using Priceline. If you need a gauge, I'd ideally like to pay around $60, but woul dbe more curious if you know a reasonable asking price and strategy. Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

When bidding 3* in Danbury you have one re-bid zone available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions and/or confirm your re-bid zone with the board before bidding.

With time on your side i would bid as follows:

Select 3* Danbury....

Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $45.

If the above is rejected, in 72 hours try as follows:

Select 3* Danbury....

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes each step of the way.

PS- not sure where or the terms of your $109/nite rate above, but the Sheraton has an $89/nite rate on their website which is cancellable up until 6pm the day of your stay. I would book that as a back-up while you continue to try Priceline.

Ok, I bid $40 on Danbury and lost.

Then bid $45 adding Waterbury as a re-bid zone. Lost again.

Now I wait 72 hours aka until Monday Dec 12 at 2pm to try again and up my bid to $50. I will keep you posted.

I think I'll actually bid $65 and $70 on the re-bid because there are only 3 zones, and only 1 zone (Waterbury) can be used as a re-bid zone. If I can get $89 at the Sheraton i'd be happy at $70 or below, especially on New Years!

I'll let you know. Hey move me up from a Newbie because once learning the art of Re-bod zones is worth something.

Also, what the heck are those coupons and how do people use them?

Thanks,

Todd

Tried doing each night separately. Did not get 12/31 night, but received winning bid for the night of 1/1 at $70, which including the $16 in taxes and fees is about $10 savings off the normal $89 + 6% tax. I'll need to go back and get it for the 12/31 night or just pay the $89 cost. Thanks for your help.
