windfall Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Hi, so I have a bit of an odd situation. I'm going to be in NYC for a short conference at CCNY, arriving next Monday on the 8th and leaving on the 10th Wednesday evening. I'm going to be travelling with my professor and one other student. Currently he has 3 rooms booked for us at the Days Hotel Broadway. The total price for this is a bit over 1600. The truth of the matter is that the reviews for this place aren't very encouraging; it's my understanding that these reservations are refundable. So now I'm wondering if it's possible to find better rated accommodations for the same or lower price. Unfortunately bidding is off the table in this circumstance, so this would have to be either something from Hotwire or a Priceline express deal. Looking at the upper east side areas, there doesn't appear to be anything that would be cheaper on priceline. I do see on Hotwire what appears to be the Lucerne at 256/night but after taxes the total comes out to a bit over 1900. Since we're probably going to be taking the subway to the campus, staying within the upper west side isn't a necessity, but anything past midtown would probably be too long of a commute.
thereuare Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 I'm not sure why bidding is 'off the table' for this trip since you are looking for 3rooms for three people (so PRICELINE's double occupancy only rule shouldn't be a factor)... but if only PRICELINE EXPRESS and Hot.wire work for this trip, and prices for each are shown, do you see anything that would fall within your budget? windfall Posted September 8, 2014 Author Report Posted September 8, 2014 Unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything else cheaper. We'll be sticking with the original reservations that he made.
