Priceline Hotel: Rome, 2 nights in February

I will be travelling to Italy with a partner and an infant. We will stay for 2 days Rome in Februray, arriving by train and leaving by plane. I am planning to get a hotel next to Termini (given the fact that we will have bags, stroller and an infant), but pretty much anything in the touristical area would do as long as they have shuttle to FCO.

I was looking at the express deals. How does this work? E.g. they are offering a 4* hotel at $69 (more like $90ish after all fees). There is a 3* hotel that is at $44 (more like $52 after taxes).

How could I id the hotels? Also, how much better deal would I get if I bid? How low should I start?

Any suggestions are welcome :)

thanks

Please remember to follow-up your thread with whatever you end up doing for the trip (like this one) as this helps keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone.

For this trip above... bidding on PRICELINE will usually provide the lowest possible price, while PRICELINE EXPRESS gives the ability to take a guess as to the hotel offered (as well as let's you know some information such as a user review rating, amenities offered at the property, etc). So it comes down to what is more important to you for this stay... having a guess as to the hotel offered before your purchase OR the lowest price for this trip. Which of these is your goal for this stay?

It depends on how much the savings are. I am willing to pay off the bat $50-ish for a 3* hotel that has good reviews and is clean and very close to Termini. If not, I guess I will be bidding on a 4*.

Can we id this hotel:

The Hotel Esposizione Roma would be at least one possibility, but with few amenities showing and so many 3* hotels in this zone it is difficult to have too much confidence in any guess.

Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
