Millertime
Traveling to San Juan pre and post cruise, I'm looking for a hotel for 10/17 and for 10/25-10/27. I want to be on the beach or within a few blocks and I'm looking to spend $85 dollars without taxes and fees as we know by the time I pay those I"m a little over $100. I would prefer Isla Verde and was going to try and bid 3.5 star and hoping to maybe get Courtyard I also looked at Priceline.Express and figured the 2 star would probably be Howard Johnson....looking to stay a little nicer than that however, and I'm willing to pay a little more if I have to. I'm could be fine with staying in Condado but I know the Sheraton is not by the beach right? so 4 star is out but what is anyone's guess on the 3.5 star on the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. Thanks so much for the help! Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. We'll use this thread for the 10/17 stay - please start a new thread for the second stay. The issue with wanting to be at/near the beach is that if you bid, you have to be willing to stay anywhere within the zone. A better option would be to look on HOTWIRE for a hotel with a "beachfront" or "near beach" amenity - when searching for your date/s, do you see any listings of interest with that amenity within your desired budget? If so, please provide the full details of the listing (star rating, zone, amenities, price per night and date) For help with any PRICELINE EXPRESS offers please include the star rating, zone, room rate per nite, and amenities associated with any that you are interested in (and within your budget). Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Millertime
3.5 star in Isla Verde area with these amenities, I think it perhaps is the Courtyard but the resort fee listed as only 12 dollars so I don't know Free Internet Pet friendly Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry The 3 star lists these amenities (might be ESJ Towers as at the top it says Book Soon! someone just got ESJ Towers Free Parking Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access I don't like the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals for the Isla Verde area for these dates so I'm looking at the Old San Juan-Codado area for a 4 star it lists ($98) pool, pets, casino, restaurant, fitness, free internet, business center (my guess maybe the Sheraton) for 3.5 stars lists($87) pool, restaurant, fitness, internet, business center for 3 stars ($83) pool, fitness, internet, free breakfast, business center (my guess is Holiday Inn Express) Thoughts? Thanks so much for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
...I'm looking to spend $85 dollars without taxes and fees...I see 4 out of the 5 hotels above are beyond your stated budget, are you willing to pay more than $85/nite at this time? Also, have you cruised before and what time does your plane get into San Juan? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Millertime
Yes, I have cruised before (not sure why that matters?) My plane gets in at noon on 17th and yes, I"m willing to pay those prices that I listed. Do you have any guesses on what they might be? Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, I have cruised before (not sure why that matters?) My plane gets in at noon...Because i suspect you will have far less time to go to the beach then you suspect, which is not something realized by most first time cruises, which is why i asked. By the time you deal with the airport in San Juan (which has gotten better over the years but still a bit chaotic) and check in at the hotel it will likely already be late afternoon, so i wanted to make sure it's still worthwhile for you to 'pay up' (more than your original budget) to be near the beach. Most solo nite pre-cruise stays are generally a slow day, relaxing by the hotel after a day of travel, a leisurely dinner, and an early nite... the next day an early arrival at the port. Best guess/comments for each: I believe there are likely more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Using this method below is what i'm seeing for each: 3.5* Isla Verde Free Internet Pet Friendly Near Beach Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Tennis Childrens Activities ... if this is what you're seeing, my best guess for this one would be the Verdanza Hotel 3* Isla Verdge Free Parking Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet ... guessing the Hosteria Del Mar or the ESJ Towers for PRICELINE EXPRESS... for a 4 star it lists ($98) --> Sheraton for 3.5 stars lists($87) --> Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel and Casino for 3 stars ($83) --> Holiday Inn Express San Juan Condado Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Millertime
Okay, I do see your point now about spending less money on beach front, I'm a beach person and we live in a land locked state with 9 months of winter so we have to squeeze in as much beach time as possible which is why I was trying to but maybe we will get the beach time post cruise. Thanks so much for your help. I think I might try for the 3 star in Condado as it seems Holiday Inn Express has good reviews for the price. I'll report back after I book the room. Link to comment
