I’m going to NYC with my girlfriend on 9/19/2014 -  9/22/2014 and need a room for these three nights (not more than around $220.00 a night). We are a couple in thirties from Europe.

I was just wondering if you could give me some suggestions for the best area(s) where to bid on hotwire for the hotel.

However, it seems that there are only a few options. How about these?:

3* Madison square garden – Hell’s Kitchen $213
3,5* Financial district $223
4 Midtown East area boutique hotel $231 (is this W hotel?)

Or should I try bidding in Priceline?

Thanks a lot!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The Financial district isn't much of a tourist area, both Midtown East and MSG are better choices.

Or should I try bidding in Priceline?

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOT.WIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOT.WIRE usually costs a little more than PRICE.LINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

If you need ID help with any hotel so please list the amenities HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll be happy to have a look at this.

Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.

Do you think 3 stars is still ok level in NY?

I assume are not really an option... for example, the 3* MSG property with only 50% recommendation from previous guests, is this something you would want to spend $200+ per nite on?

I'm very familiar with NYC and i think these are your best options:

4* MTE on HOTWIRE for $227/nite (Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa, Pet Friendly)

--> likely the W New York

(good location but standard rooms are a little on the small side)

3.5* Times Square on HOTWIRE for $229/nite (Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible)

--> best guess The Row NYC

3.5* MSG on ho.tiwre for $229/nite (Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower)... and has an excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating

--> likely the Yotel Times Square

3.5* MSG on PRICELINE EXPRESS for $226/nite (but code METRO6 will take an additional 5% OFF, with (Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center)

--> my guess here would be the Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square West, but these amenities are very common for NYC so i wouldn't be too surprised if it were something else, although the 8.0 or better user review rating gives a bit of comfort that it should, at the very least, be decent

If you truly need to stay under your $220/nite but the 3.5* MSG property on PRICELINE EXPRESS should be fine and using the code indicated will keep you within budget... if you can stretch your budget a few dollars i would take the 3.5* MSG property (believed to be the Yotel) as the 4.5/5.0 TA rating almost ensures a pleasant experience.

It might be little busy neighborhood, but next reservation then from some other area. That's my next task.
