mcovalesky Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 Hi! Looking for help bidding for 1 room at a 5* hotel on Vegas Strip for 9/12-9/14. Rates seem higher than normal this particular weekend ($350-500 per night if booked outright). I think we would rather book Vegas Strip South as to avoid Trump International on North Strip (a shame as any others on the north end would be acceptable). My target price would be $200 a night. Does this seem attainable? Any help/tips/suggestions are appreciated.
yellowdog Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 Welcome to BetterBidding! My target price would be $200 a night. Does this seem attainable? No, I'm sorry to say that a 5* isn't within your budget for this weekend. You'll get a 4* for your budget. How do you want to play this, would you like to bid for the cheapest hotel or would you like to go with HOTWIRE? If you're trying to target a specific property then HOT.WIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOT.WIRE usually costs a little more than PRICE.LINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog.
mcovalesky Posted August 13, 2014 Author Report Posted August 13, 2014 Thank you for the response. I think I am going to take a few days and decide if I want to increase my budget to ensure a 5* hotel or settle on a 4*. Still surprised rates are so high that particular weekend... must be something going on. I am willing to use either Hotwire or Priceline... say Hotwire if I could narrow down a more favorable hotel in the Strip South area (Aria over VDara for example)... if not then Priceline is fine. Now my question for you is what budget do you think it would take to bid on a 5* South Strip for these dates (9/12-9/14)?
AxelyFoley Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 Hey, I am curious about this too since I am going to Vgeas that weekend as well! The prices are high because of the Mayweather Fight. My problem is I want to book on the North End but want to avoid the trump. Looking at the price on express deals, it looks like the trump option is the $189 option. My question is if I bid in the $250 range, is it possible to not get the Trump? I'd hate to pay $250 for a hotel I could have just gotten for $189. Thanks for any guidance.
thereuare Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 mcovalesky, At current rates, for a 5* non-Trump property, i think you are likely looking close to $300/nite. mcovalesky Posted August 21, 2014 Author Report Posted August 21, 2014 Decided to increase my budget for the weekend. Won the Aria, which I am happy with. Decided location for this particular weekend was more important than price for me. And the $314 a night is not that much more than most of the 4star hotels are going for in the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. Next time I wont go on a fight weekend :) Aria $314/night for 9/12/14-9/14/14 Strip South 5*
thereuare Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Congratulations on your success!
