cntrydncr1 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I am new to this board and priceline. I understand the rebidding strategies. I would like to know how early I should start to try for a hotel in Vancouver for the summer of 2006. My plans are as firm as they could be! I want to go for a 4* in the downtown area for July 15-17 (2 nights.) I think from what I see of prices for this area that I would not want to pay over $100 US per night. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!See this thread for a discussion on the subject: SHOULD I BID EARLY or CLOSE TO ARRIVAL?I always recommend bidding earlier rather than later as it gives you time to lowball and there is a lot less pressure when you don't feel you need to win right away.Let us know when you want to move forward and we'll suggest a strategy to try. cntrydncr1 Posted September 25, 2005 Author Report Posted September 25, 2005 Will try to proceed ASAP.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 You have 3 re-bid zones available at the 4* level and i would bid as follows (also increasing your maximum bid to $105... but if this is not acceptable to you then you can just make your last bid below at the $100 level)Select 4* Vancouver...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. cntrydncr1 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Report Posted September 26, 2005 Followed the strategy recommended and all bids were rejected. Should I wait awhile and try the same strategy or post again to try something different?
thereuare Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 I think it is much too early to be 'settling' for lowering your star rating or increasing your price.I would stick with the above strategy, bidding every 2-3 weeks... any more than that will likely only lead to frustration on your part.Keep us updated. cntrydncr1 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Report Posted September 26, 2005 Thanks. I'll do that and keep you posted.
cntrydncr1 Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 I asked for advice in September on bidding for a 4* hotel in Vancouver downtown. I tried the following strategy 3 times prior to today:Bid $75 for downtown, rejectedBid $85 and added Surrey, rejectedBid $95 and added Langley, rejectedBid $100 and added Delta, rejected.Today I bid $75 and got the Westin Bayshore Resort and Marina. My dates are 7/15-17/2006.Thanks for your help.Cntrydncr1
