I am going to NY on 9/19/2014hru 9/26/2014 and  need a room for 2 people and would like to pay around $220.00 a night. I have tried to name my price on Priceline and they have rejected all my bids up to the $220 for 3.5 stars or above. In addition,my brother and his wife will be joining us for the 21st and 22nd and I need to either have a room with 2 beds or get them a room at the same /place/price as mine. Please advise.

Welcome to Betterbidding.

The issue would be that PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy and that is especially true in NYC. If you need more than one bed, searching for more than 2 people on HOTWIRE is a better option - especially in NYC - than bidding on PRICELINE. Are you seeing any listings of interest on HOTWIRE? If so, please provide the star rating, price per night, zone and full list of amenities showing with the listing. If you try to get a separate room for the 21st and 22nd, there's no way to guarantee getting the same hotel.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Most hotels in NYC offer parking, but almost none own the lots where the garage will be parked (they contract with a nearby garage to use for their hotel parking and the valets run back/forth between the hotel and the garage).

HOWEVER, it will be far less expensive for your brother to find a nearby garage on his own and leave the car for the few days that he will be there.

Expect hotel parking to range from $45-$65/day whereas doing it on your own will be more in the $25-$35 range.

How did you decide to proceed regarding the occupancy/same hotel issue?

Thanks for the information on the parking.

I had decided that I would get a hotel for 2 for Sept 19th and 20th, then switch to a hotel for 4, for 21st and 22nd, and then get another hotel for 23rd thru the 26th.

After getting a hotel for Sept 19th and 20th ($262.00 per night -  3.5 *) my brother decided that he was not going to come to NY. I was able to add another night at the same hotel for $216. I am now looking for a hotel for the 22nd thru the 26th and even trying all areas,  it seem like the prices have gone up. 3 stars are now over $300 per night. Help!! Any ideas on how I should proceed from here.

Also - do you think the New York City pass is the way to go? Should we preorder or will we find it cheaper when we get to the city?
