levenhopper
Hey gang, I'm a long time lurker, first time bidder looking for some help. A group of friends and I (four people including myself) are sailing on a cruise out of San Juan, and will need a hotel for one night in San Juan checking in on 10/17. We'd like to stay in the Old San Juan/Cordado area due to the proximity to the airport and cruise port. We'd like to stay in a 3.5* or higher, but would consider dropping to a 3* if there was a significant price difference. I know Priceline only does bookings based on bedding for two people, so I'm open to bidding/booking two Priceline rooms or one Hotwire room. Can anyone recommend some suggested bids to start my process? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
levenhopper
Ideally I'd like to stay under the $150 mark, if it's possible. Link to comment
thereuare
If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Rates are not high for these dates and you should be able to get a 4* hotel by bidding on PRICELINE for less than $100/nite (accepting the occupancy risk)... would you want to try for this first OR do you prefer a lesser expensive 3.5* property (which may save you anywhere from $5-$20 vs. the 4* hotel) If you prefer to not take the occupancy risk HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Condado zone for $129/nite when searching for 2rooms/5adults which i would guess to be the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino (Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly)... which you should not is different than the Sheraton Old San Juan. Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed to and we'll take it from there (or how it goes of you purchase the HOTWIRE property above). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
levenhopper
I'll probably start by bidding on a 3.5* on Price.line (using the links on this forum!) because two rooms at $129/night via Hot.wire puts me way over budget. It'd be cheaper to bid on two rooms via Price.line if I can get them at $100/night (or even less). Link to comment
Romelle
You might also take a look at the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. I'm going there on different dates, and the rates were pretty high. With PRICELINE EXPRESS I got a relatively reasonable 3* and it turned out to be a Holiday Inn Express with free breakfast. You can see my win HERE. I'm happy with the deal. I've been there before, and know there is a free trolley running in that area clear to Old San Juan. Romelle Link to comment
levenhopper
Winner! It was a little more than I wanted, but my friends volunteered to help pay (I was trying to surprise them with a nice room). After taxes, the two rooms combined for a total of $199.94. Link to comment
