tnn Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Hello! I'm traveling to NYC 1/05/06 - 1/09/06. I would like to bid around 90- 100 for a 3* in MTW, but I will go up to $120, if need be. Any advice will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
thereuare Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is MTW the only zone you're willing to bid? Most traveling to NYC bid MTW, MTE, and UM/CPS... is there something in particular that confines you to the MTW zone?NYC is compact enough and public transit readily avaialalbe (and inexpensive) that for most any midtown location is sufficient.Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. tnn Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 I've only been to NYC once, and didn't have much time to explore, so please excuse me for my ignorance and lack of knowledge! I do prefer MTW since my friends tell me it is a very convenient location, but am willing to bid on MTE and UM/CPS as well.
Sciamano Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 As you can see here: PRICELINE WINFor the same dates I was able to get the New York Hilton for $120/night.But since bids are often "non repeatable", before you try anything just wait for thereuare to post a bidding strategy for you.Just wanted to tell you that reaching your goal is possible.
thereuare Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 So is price or zone more important... would you prefer to try for a 4* hotel up to $120 as you do have a good chance of success based upon the winning bid linked above. Usually the difference in price between a 3* and 4* hotel in NYC is negligible. If you're trying for a 4* i woudl have no hesiation bidding for MTW, MTE, or UM/CPS as all of the known hotels are very good and centrally located. At the 3* level i might only bid MTW as there are hotels in both the MTE zone and UM/CPS zone that i (personally) wouldn't want to receive.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. tnn Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 Since price is negligible between 3* and 4* I think zone is a more important factor than price for me, thus, I'm willing to bid up to 120 for a 4*, with MTW preferred, but open to MTE and UM/CPS. Should I follow the same strategy as previously advised for Sciamano? Thanks for all the help.
